Cue the gasps and astonishments, because the Bowden Blog now has a picture of something other than jeans or sweats!! On Friday, April 20th, I had my IS Oral Defense in Wishart with Dr. Johnson and Dr. Bostdorff. That should answer the most pressing question in your minds: no, this outfit was not chosen by free-will, but out of necessity to look presentable and help pass the final aspect of my long IS journey. For my “adult attire,” I did not go with anything truly fancy, but for me it is definitely a severe wardrobe change. I started with a plain white, Polo button-down tucked into khaki pants, held up by a black Polo belt, and a pair of black loafers as my shoes. Surprisingly, the loafers are extremely comfortable and do well when I have to wear them for extended periods of time or have to be on my feet for a while. Because my Orals Poster is essentially a bright red color, I chose a red-ish tie with some black in the design as well, helping match my poster, but be different enough where I do not blend in to the backdrop. Overall, the outfit was “adult-like” and presentable, and met the necessary requirements for my Oral Defense.
