In the classical music world, the musicians are always on stage in black, semi-formal but conservative also kinda business attire. For students, the uniform becomes black pants/skirt/dress with a nice cardigan or blazer. The loving outfit sometimes is dubbed "concert blacks."
Here is the challenge of the broke, college musician who gained weight over her four years. I. Can't. Afford. Nice. Concert. Clothes.
And Wooster, Ohio does not cater to my dress pants needs. I spent hours trying to get dress pants, no luck. The only pair sitting in my closet are 8 years old, 35 pounds ago.
That being said, what am I suppose to wear?
Que improvising with the trash in my closet.

I wear the blazer my mother bought me in 8th grade "to be more adult." It likes to remind me of how much I've grown since then. I can't move my arms or shoulders or it will rip further than it already has. Throw it over the black tunic that I like to wear in the summer, black leggings, and "fancy" black shoes turns it into a concert outfit.
The take-away is, no one cares what you wear as long as its black since the stage up and away from the audience. It can be as cheap and old as you like.
[I can't remember where any of this is from. Most of it is at least 4 years old besides the shoes. Shoes: Forever 21]
